Compare and Reflect

This piece is a collection of screenshots of Instagram posts I accumulated over a few months, that I attached to a mirror. These screenshots were taken anytime I was scrolling through my Instagram and felt as though I was comparing myself to the person in the image, in some way. Adjacent to the mirror of screenshots is another mirror in which I asked viewers to look at themselves then write with a dry erase maker anything they wanted or felt on the mirror. Through this work I wanted to talk about the effects Instagram has on body image, specifically in women or feminine people. I wanted to show the unrealistic and constant play of body image that is portrayed through social media.
